Minnie’s Holiday Dine | Hollywood and Vine | Food Report Day 4

Starbucks, Starring Rolls and Santa Goofy

Today was the day with the ADR I was most looking forward to – Minnie’s Holiday and Dine. Our ADR was not until 5pm and we knew there would be a lot of food so we didnt each too much before hand.

Our day started with breakfast. Jamie had his cupcake that he saved from the Boardwalk Bakery last night.

Again this was cream on top and not buttercream icing. Cupcakes a WDW can be very icing heavy so it really makes a nice change when its cream.

I had a good old pop tart that we had ordered from Walmart. One of the benefits of staying in a DVC room is the toaster. Grape flavour and very sweet.

For lunch we popped into starring rolls for a sandwich. This is a great little place for a light lunch in Hollywood Studios. We ordered one turkey sandwich and one ham sandwich, each with a packet of chips. We had planned to share but they were just too big to cut so just had one each. There is so much meat on them. Really good sandwiches.

Yep there was an egg on the turkey sandwich – not sure why as it really didn’t add anything to it.

Later in the afternoon we stopped for a Starbucks at the Trolley Car Cafe. We ordered a venti Iced Caramel Macchiato between us.

If you are ever on the Disney Dining Plan Starbucks is a great place to use a snack credit – you can order and sized drink for one snack credit.  A tall drink costs the same one snack credit as a venti drink.

We stopped at Gerties for ice cream but I dont have pics of those. Sorry!

Minnie’s Holiday Dine

Then it was time for the main show – Minnie’s holiday dine. Basically this is a character buffet hosted by Minnie Mouse and also features Santa Goofy, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Daisy Duck. All the characters are dressed up for Christmas and the food has a Christmas dinner feel.

The range of food on the buffet was huge and between us I think we managed to try everything except the soups. We both loved the food – I would eat all of it again. I loved the bourbon turkey that is carved in front of you – so juicy and big thick slices. Other favourites of mine were the collard greens, shrimp and lobster mac and cheese and marinated flank steak.  Jamie loved the green bean casserole, asiago ranch chicken breasts, the salad bar and the barbecued meat balls.

We ate a lot more than this (oops) but at a buffet all the pictures look the same.  The desserts were great too. They had lots of little mini desserts and as I have a super sweet tooth I had one of everything. Jamie had the ice cream.

This was our most expensive meal for the two of us $140 including tax and tip without any alcohol. We had booked the package that had priority Fantasmic seating so that bumped up the price a little. We thought it worth the money – the food was excellent quality and we got great quality time with the characters. Sometimes at a character meal they can feel very rushed but they all stopped and interacted with us for a while.

They have announced they will be doing this meal all year round and will be changing the theme to the season. Hoping we can do it again for Halloween next year.

Here is a link to a great review over on the Disney Food Blog: Minnie’s Holiday Dine. It has lots of pictures of the buffet and the restaurant layout.

Based on our experience I think this is a character meal everyone needs to try at least once. We thought the food was just amazing for a character meal and not only that, all the characters were in their Christmas outfits. Super cute!

That was all the food for today, tomorrow Yak and Yeti quick service, unplanned visit to Kona and drinks at Trader Sams.
