Disney’s Forgotten Films : The Wild

There is just no denying it Disney has made some truly amazing films over the years. They have also made a lot of films – especially if you start including films that dont fit under the regular Walt Disney Pictures banner like Pixar, Disney Nature, Marvel, Disney Channel and most recently Lucas Film. I tried to do a quick count but got lost after the 300 mark.

Most of us would have started our love affair with Disney through the animated classics. Personally my favourites are The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Princess and the Frog. I think most Disney fans would have seen those but there are some amazing films out there that seem to have been forgotten about.

I am going to start with a Disney film that I love but have never met another person who has seen it – The Wild. Its a cute animated film from 2006 about a group of zoo animals who escape from the city zoo and venture to the wild after one of them is taken away. I know I know, it sounds like Madagascar and there really are a lot of similarities but this film is almost just as good.

Here is little clip that Disney have uploaded to YouTube

I wouldn’t say the story is one of Disney’s best, the story and the characters have been done before and there is nothing new or spectacular in the animation but its a great movie night film and doesn’t deserve to be forgotten.

Jim Belushi is the voice of Benny the squirrel and is my favourite character. To me he just comes across just like in According to Jim. I like to think Jim Belushi is like that is real life.

What are your favourite Disney forgotten films? Let me know in the comments. Also let me know if you have seen The Wild – I am sure there is someone else out there who has seen it.

I’m a big Disney nut and have seen The Wild. Like you everyone looks at me like I’m talking nonsense because they don’t remember it. I think I’d even put things like The Black Cauldron in there. It’s classed as a Disney classic but I’ve never met a person who has seen it or has it in their collection!
