Its all about the foooood!!! Part 1

Food Glorious Food! Food is a huge part of our holidays especially in Florida.  This trip however is a budget trip and due to this we havent booked many table service meals. For those not in the Disney know you can book restaurant reservations, called ADRS (advanced dining reservations), 180 days before your trip. All the really popular restaurants can end up fully booked 6 months in advance. It really can be crazy. We have only booked 3 ADRs, the rest of our meals will be quick service meals and snacks.  So on to the actual food….

Since we are only there 7 nights we will be going straight to Magic Kingdom once we have checked into our room. And this is where I hit my first problem – we normally go to Pecos Bills and get a burger and go to the amazing toppings bar. This week they announced that the restaurant is undergoing a refurb in October and the menu is totally changing! Out of curiosity for the new menu I expect we will still probably end up there.

The next morning we will take advantage of being up early and head to our first ADR of the trip. We will be having breakfast at Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I found it really hard to find any decent pics of the restaurant online – I got these from the Disney website. Breakfast is a buffet and features both standard American breakfast fare with some African items thrown in. This is what the Disney website says about the breakfast ‘Greet your day with a cup of full-bodied Kenyan AA coffee, tropical juice and a bountiful breakfast buffet. Selections may include made-to-order omelets, French toast, African pastries, carved ham, fresh fruit and corn beef bobotie—a type of South African quiche.’ The perfect way to start any holiday.

We have no plans currently for lunch that day but we are heading out to Magic Kingdom so out day will definitely involve one of these

This bad boy is a pineapple dole whip. I have the double pineapple option – pineapple soft serve ice cream with pineapple juice. It is the most refreshing thing ever.  Jamie prefers the vanilla ice cream option with the pineapple juice.

Our evening meal is our second ADR of the trip and will be at Sanaa. Sanaa is at Animal Kingdom Kidani Village so will be a short walk from our room.

The restaurant serves African-Indian inspired dishes and if you get the right table you can see out over the Savannah. I am really hoping that we are not too tired to enjoy this amazing setting. We have tried to go here our last two trips but always seem to miss out.

I am going to jump a few days ahead and share our third and last adr of the trip. This is the one I am most looking forward to….

This is the little blurb from the Disney website ‘Celebrate the season with a gloriously festive dining experience—and a rare chance to see Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy all together (all-new costumes!) making merry with you and your Guests! Get hugs and photos with your happy hosts, and wonder as you wander through the dazzling décor, heartwarming music and holiday-themed food and activities’

When I first heard about the special meal I thought I was going to pee my pants a little! Okay maybe not quite but I wasnt far off. Its essentially Chritmas dinner with the fab 5. I am even currently on the hunt for a Disney themed Christmas Jumper to wear on the day.

The ADR is actually quite expensive at $52.99 each + Tax and Tip but I am really hoping the experience is worth it. I am even tempted to try and get a good picture of me and Minnie to put on my Christmas cards. I guess I could let Jamie in the picture too, maybe.

Next Time – The snacks from Epcot Food and Wine festival and the rest of the food
