Our Adventure Plans so Far – 2016!

Well folks here we are officially in 2016. That can only mean one thing our bucket list adventure starts this year!!!

I thought I would just give a little update on the things we have booked so far, things that are set in stone and a few possibilities. There have been a few small changes since my first post.

Our first confirmed trip of 2016 had to be to our favourite place on earth – Walt Disney World.

We have changed the timings of this trip slightly so it will now be in October/November. There are a few reasons for this –  the Food and Wine Festival and the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. Yeah you read that right…half marathon!

Update May 2016: I have decided not to do the race – sorry folks! I wasn’t keen on it being  changed to a day race as it just seemed like every other race so decided to skip it.

At the moment it is only me who wants to do the half marathon but I hope to talk Jamie round. It is also difficult to get a place and registration doesn’t open till March so it may never happen. I am insanely excited about it but petrified of running that distance. The most I have ever completed was a 10k back in 2014 but I walked it and it took me over 1hr 40. Disney does lots of running events throughout the year and you dont need to be into running to enjoy them. Their website has loads of great information Run Disney Website.

Whilst at WDW we will be doing a split stay again starting in our DVC home resort of Polynesian in a standard view room.

The second part of our accommodation is currently unknown. We will be using our DVC points and as we do not wish to stay at our home resort we cant book until 7 months out. We would love Boardwalk or Beach Club but its difficult to get the availability during Food and Wine.

If you are reading this and you are in a long term relationship you will understand that sometimes you have to make your partner do something they just dont want to do to make you happy. Get your mind out the gutter, I am talking about going on a boat. Well its not just a boat, its a cruise, a Disney Cruise.

Jamie is a super amazing husband (love ya) but has a bit of a flaw…he doesn’t like water. He he a fear of drowning so a cruise has always been off the cards. But as any good wife knows you just have to wear them down. I went on and on about a cruise until he finally said yes! Told you he was amazing going on the boat just for me.

We have booked a 4 night Bahamas cruise that departs from Port Canaveral. There are two ports we stop at Nassau and Disney’s own private island Castaway Cay. Pure white sand and perfect turquoise water – paradise!

After that we will only be back in Scotland for two weeks before we leave for our next castle…

Sleeping Beauty’s Castle Disneyland Paris

Now Disneyland Paris and Disneyland Resort have caused us the most stress in trying to work out when to visit. Both are doing lots of renovations and refurbs over the next 12-18 months. Disneyland Paris are doing their’s because its their 25th birthday in 2017 and Disneyland are starting work on Star Wars land. We were going to try and do both later in 2017 but doing that we would never have achieved all parks in 12 months. That all changed last week when on a Disney forum I seen a post about great DLRP prices and within a few hours I had booked 4 nights at the Santa Fe Hotel in late November.

It looks like a very basic hotel but who cares – we will be at Disney! Not only that it come with breakfast and we all know I love my food.

There will be a few refurbs that we are gutted to be missing like Star Tours and Big Thunder Mountain but the price was just too good to miss and that means we have something to go back for!

Currently we only have two must do’s at DLRP but I am sure this list will grow once I do some research:

Phantom Manor

From what I have read it is very similar to Haunted Mansion at WDW but has a different back story.

Ratatouille: The Adventure and Bistrot Chez Remy

DLRP is the only Disney Resort that has this Ratatouille ride and as we are such big fans of the film this is a must do. They also have a restaurant Bistrot Chez Remy where you are shrunk down to rat size and served in Remy’s restaurant. We couldn’t have a must do list without having some food in there.

The countdown is officially on!

Ooh I am so jealous of this amazing Bucketlist year of trips you guys have planned. I’m looking forward to living vicariously through your posts 🙂
I live in AZ so we’ve been to Disneyland so many times I’ve lost count, and if you’re looking for a time to go to Disneyland I’d recommend the week of Labor Day. Not Labor Day, but the days that follow have always been very slow when we’ve gone. you do miss out on special events like the Halloween party by going so early in September, and it can be quite hot, but I’ve never been at a time with less crowds. Now that may not hold true this year because of all the construction going on, and it may not even work for you but just thought I’d offer my opinion.

Thank you for your kind words!
Our time to visit Disneyland is completely up in the air at the moment – the contstruction is ruining our plans. Stupid Star Wars! (I love you really) I just adore fantasmic at Disney World so want to plan our trip when it’s back open.
