Walt Disney World is stunning once the sun goes down. All the parks have a different feel to them,there are amazing night time shows and the rides can feel like a whole new experience. There is also the benefit of it being a little cooler at night. Check out my Best Rides to Try at Night;
Big Thunder Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a completely different experience at night. It feel’s so much faster and intense. This ride has so much detail on the way round and I find some of it can be seen much better at night.
Confession : My picture is from Disneyland Paris but I don’t seem to have one from Walt Disney World. How can I take 1000’s of pictures a trip and not have any of Big Thunder Mountain at night?
Tower of Terror
Think this is scary during the day, well its so much scarier when you cant see anything when those shutters open!
This is the ride I love the most at night. Disney only recently started opening Animal Kingdom park later. They haven’t opened all the animal exhibitions at night but Kilimanjaro Safari does operate. Many of the animals that live on the savannas are only active at night. If you are fed up seeing the lions having a nap then you need to ride this at night.

This ride is very similar to Big Thunder Mountain in the dark – feels way faster and way more intense! When you go up the big hill lift you have panoramic views of Animal Kingdom. If you ride Expedition Everest at night those views are breathtaking. The park is beautifully lit and just spectacular.
The older I get the more intense I find Expedition Everest – I fear I may not be able to ride it forever!
When I was compiling my list I asked my husband what his favourite attraction at night was – he answered Toy Story Midway Mania. Obviously I was confused, this ride is completely indoors, its the same during the day as it is at night. His reasoning – he just likes the ride and wants to ride it anytime! Thanks Jamie for all your help with my blog post!
Let me know what your best rides to try at night is in the comments! Lisa
