Why you need to stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Polynesian Village Resort – the best resort in Walt Disney World?

If you are a regular reader or follow me on Instagram you will know that I adore the Polynesian resort. Ever since I first started planning my first Disney World trip I knew that one day I had to stay there. On our honeymoon in 2012 we did the DVC tour and knew that one day we needed to become members as it was perfect for how we travelled.  Then something amazing happened – Disney added DVC to the Polynesian resort. We became DVC owners at the Polynesian resort in March 2015

It the most beautiful resort in Disney

I am just going to let these pictures do the talking for this point……

The food

Polynesian resort has lots of food options. There are two table service restaurants, ‘ohana and Kona Cafe. In addition there is a 24 hour quick service, Captain Cooks and the quiet pool also has a small quick service location. Kona also has a little sushi location outside the main restaurant.

Captain Cooks has become my favourite resort quick service. The breakfast has some amazing options like the infamous Tonga Toast. Everyone needs to try this at least once in their lifetime.

Trader Sams Grog Grotto

For some reason I have no pictures from Trader Sams, maybe I was a little tipsy! The pictures below are from the Disney website.

Disney lists this Grotto as a tiki bar but it is so much more. I dont want to give away any spoilers but order HippopotoMai Tai – 2 shots of rum!!

There are so many other reasons to love the Polynesian Village Resort but it would take way too long to list them. The DVC rooms, the monorail, the pools, the boat to MK, the Boutiki, the cast members and so much more. Having stayed at quite a few resorts at Walt Disney World, Polynesian still tops my list.

I love Polynesian and am an owner there as well! Started at darn near exactly the same time as you! Not sure if it’s my most favorite resort. I love the smell of the Contemporary as well as the style but not as much the DVC units in Bay Lake Tower – they’re too small. I like Beach Club a lot and the moderate resorts Caribbean, Coronado and Riverside as well as Art of Animation and Pop Century “value” resorts. I have stayed at almost all the resort properties at Disney now and I can say that each has benefits and drawbacks. As for Grand Floridian – I like it but I really think the exorbitant expense is often unjustified. I think my most favorite of all is Animal Kingdom Lodge or Kidani – Savannah view.
