The best comfort food in Walt Disney World

The best comfort food in Walt Disney World

Even on vacation sometimes all you want to eat is good hearty comfort food. You know the kind of food your mum made for you as a kid. I have compiled a list of my favourite comfort foods from around Disney World.

A Sampling of Mom’s favourite recipies – 50s prime time

When I first thought about pulling this post together I knew 50s Prime Time Cafe was always going to be at the top of my list. I could actually just list their menu and my whole blog post would be complete – its a restaurant full of comfort food. There is everything from lasagna,to chicken pot pie,to pot roast to fried chicken but my absolute favourite is a sampling of Mom’s favourite recipes which is described as Golden-fried Chicken, Fork Tender Pot Roast, and Traditional Meatloaf with all the fixings.

New England Pot Roast – Liberty Tree Tavern

Pay tribute to our founding fathers as you dine at this stately colonial-style inn serving traditional New England-inspired fare.

Liberty Tree Tavern serves two different menus – at dinner it is a family style Thanksgiving feast featuring turkey, ham and post roast accompanied by all the traditional sides. At lunch you order from a menu. If its comfort food you are after then you wont be disappointed whatever time you visit.  My favourite menu item is served at lunch and is the New England Pot Roast.

Keen Eye for a Shepherds Pie – Raglan Road

I have eaten at Raglan Road many times and all but once I have had the Shepherds Pie.  It really is just like the Shepherds pie I make at home but so much better.

Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf – Wolfgang Puck Express

This is the only restaurant on my list that is classed as quick service and not table service – I even included it on my favourite quick service blog post. We dont really do meatloaf here in the UK and the first time I ever tried it was at Wolfgang Puck Express and I fell in love. This is a fantastic dish, flavourful and rich and gives you such a warm happy feeling when you eat it. Or maybe that is just me!

Bonus Item: Dads Brownie Sundae – 50s Prime Time Cafe

So its clear, I like 50s Prime Time Cafe. Not only do they have really great entree’s that are perfect when you are after some home comforts they have the perfect dessert – Dads Brownie Sundae. Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream, Hot Fudge, Caramel Sauce, Whipped Cream, and Toppings. What else does a dessert need?

Those are just my favourites – what are yours? Let me know in the comments!
